My Morning Cup – 7.9.13

My Morning Cup - 7.9.13

It has come to that time of year where a decision has to be made. Water pretty much every day or just let it all die back until the rains start in September. My choice has always been to water once a week and whatever survives can stay. But then we started that little project on the side yard and I know I’ll end up watering what’s been newly planted to get it through the summer so I don’t have to replant come spring. The object, of course, is to fill the spaces with heat/drought tolerant plants and flowers, but it’s shady over there and I failed to take into account how much more shade we were making with the fence and gate. I am, at best, still a novice gardener, even after thirty years of trying!!
Today my cup is insulated and filled with my version of a frappuccino. The bird bath is getting a bit of help from the sprinkler and the squirrels will be happy to have some water later when the temps rise. We’re heading to triple digits today and they’re going to be sticking around for awhile.
I may need a bigger cup!!
